THE LITTLE HOUSE
– Level: Intermediate
- Material:
20 grams of DK wool in 3 different colors: For this model, I knitted the O-Wool Balance in colors: Turquoise (Blue), Alabaster (Grey) and Cinnabar (Red)
1 circular needle 4 mm in 60 cm circumference
1 yarn needle
1 small button (door button)
The sample does not matter!
Realization
The little house is knitted in one piece and started with the attachment above the roof. With the blue colour, cast on 6 stitches and knit in garter stitch for 6 cm. Fold the knit in half, pick up a stitch on the cast-on row and knit it with the corresponding stitch on the needle. Knit the row in this way, which creates the loop. Cut the yarn about ten centimeters from the knit. Join the color red and knit the roof in garter stitch as follows:
row 1: 1 stitch, 1 intercalary increase, knit until one stitch from the end, make an intercalary increase and knit the last stitch.
row 2: Knit a row.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 5 more times.
rg 13 and 14: All right side up.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 one more time.
rg 17 and 18: All right side up.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 one more time.
rg 21 and 22: All right side up.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 one more time.
rg 25 and 26: All right side up.
Cut the yarn about ten centimeters from the knit. Join the gray color.
Knit 2 rows, then 1 row of increases as follows: Knit 2 stitches, make an intercalary increase, knit up to 2 stitches before the end, make an intercalary increase and finish the row.
Continue in garter stitch for a height of 10 cm in gray. Purl a row on the right side of your work then continue in stockinette stitch starting with a knit row and increasing 2 stitches on this row. When the piece measures 19 cm in gray, knit 4 rows in garter stitch then cast off all the stitches.
Finishes:
– Windows x 2:
Embroider in chain stitch with the color blue, two windows 3 stitches from the edge and 2 rows of garter stitch. These windows are squares of 5 chain stitches. Embroider a cross inside the windows.
- Door:
Cast on with the pink color 8 stitches and knit a rectangle in stocking stitch of 10 rows. Loosely cast off these 10 stitches. Sew a small button on the door as a doorknob. Sew the door in the middle of the house at the fold between the garter stitch and the jersey.
– Seams:
Fold the gray part back on itself then sew the sides with a thin seam on the back of the work.
Sew a button on the roof above the gray part and just in the middle, as in the photo. Embroider a chain stitch buttonhole with the gray thread.
