Realization
The hat is knitted in one piece and started with the cattooth border:

Cast on 92 (100, 108) stitches. Knit 4 rows in stocking st, then, a row of hole-holes from the right side as follows: 1 st, * 2 tog, 1 yarn over * repeat until the last stitch and finish with 1 st.
Knit 5 more rows in stockinette st (starting with a purl row).
Then, fold up the hem by pulling up a stitch on the cast-on row and knitting it with the corresponding stitch on the needle.

Continue by knitting in stocking st for a total height of 8.5 (10, 11.5) cm.
Increase 6 stitches for the neck at the beginning of the next 2 rows = 104 (112, 120) stitches.

Continue in stockinette st over these sts until 9.5 (11.5, 13.5) cm and at the end of a knit row, transfer these sts to a set of double pointed needles. Join in the round and continue in stockinette stitch decreasing for the back of the bonnet as follows:

Cast on 4 stitches with 2.5 mm needles and make a 65 (70, 72) cm knit or “I-cord”. Sew it along the neckline of the bonnet, leaving an equal length overhang on each side for the 2 ties.
(I use a mechanical knitting machine to make my I-Cord, very practical and fast!)
Tuck in all the wires. Well done!!!

Happy Holidays! ˜
