A knit for the summer

Last week, five and a half years after moving to Canada, after swearing loyalty and sincere allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, I became a Canadian citizen.

Watching this paper which summarizes the trajectory of my adventure here, in the North, is a real mix of feelings. As I was born and raised in the heat and sun of the tropics, adapting to winter was quite an experience for me and remains to this day a great mysterious and fascinating topic of discussion for my family and my friends who stayed in Brazil.

I think there is nothing more comforting to help us get through the winter than knitting. And even if I take advantage of the cold season to wear my best knitwear, when March arrives with its longer and sunny days, I can't wait to put away my coat and my boots to take out my beautiful dresses and my Havaianas to go to eat two generous scoops of ice cream for lunch.

The proximity of the warm season also makes me change my knitting projects. As my physiological well-being depends on this therapeutic activity, it is out of the question for me to stop during the three summer months. The association between knitting and warmth is not entirely obvious, we have to move from fibers that keep us warm during winter, to fibers that announce the freshness and lightness of summer.

I then leave mohair, alpaca, angora and cashmere aside for fibers based on silk, linen and cotton ( ORGANIC OF COURSE AS CÉLINE EXPLAINED HERE ). I think of small and portable projects, like socks to knit in the park during a picnic or having a drink with friends on a terrace. I'm thinking of cardigans like THIS or THIS to go with my summer dresses. I think of beautiful patterns for lace.

The shop is also preparing for the change of season, over the next few weeks we will be receiving our summer yarn orders. A beautiful and large selection of organic cotton, new colors for the Lino and novelties from Cyborg's Craft Room.

And you, what are you knitting for the summer?

PS: If you're tired of winter, COME ENJOY THE HEAT AND THE SUN AT OUR BINGO HAWAII, FRIDAY MARCH 14 FROM 6 PM.
