Techniques

Intermediate increase: with the left needle, pick up the thread between the two stitches from the front to the back. Knit this new stitch in the back loop, the stitch is “twisted”.

Decrease facing left: slip one stitch then the next onto the right needle. Return the left needle to the foot of these two stitches at the front of the knitting and knit these 2 stitches together.

Sample

21 sts for 10 cm in Heritage using 4 mm needles in circular stocking stitch. Check the sample and adjust the needle number if necessary.

Realization

The mitten starts at the wrist.

Cast on 36 stitches with Angora and distribute them on the set of 4 mm double pointed needles. Join, taking care not to twist the stitches. Knit 7 cm in stocking st then cut the wool and join the Briggs & Little. Continue in stockinette st for 6.5 cm.

Then, fold the lining inside the mitten as follows:

Pick up a stitch on the cast-on row then knit it together with one of the stitches on the opposite needle. When the round is finished, the wrist is finished.

Knit 3 rows then form the gusset as follows:

Gusset

row 1: 18 stitches, place a marker ring, 1 spacer increase, place a marker ring, 18 stitches.

row 2: Location.

row 3: Knit to the first marker ring, slip the ring, increase spacer, knit to the second ring marker, increase spacer, slip the ring, finish the round.

rg 4 and 5: All right side up.

Repeat rows 3 to 5 until you obtain 13 stitches between the two marker rings.
(You will have at each row of increase, respectively: 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 then 13 stitches between the two rings).

Knit a row after the last increase row. On the next row, slip the 13 stitches of the gusset onto a thread to leave them waiting, and finish the round.

Hand

Knit 7 additional rows, then 5 rows in 1/1 rib and cut the Briggs & Little yarn about ten centimeters from your knitting. Join the Angora yarn and knit in stockinette stitch for 13 rows.

The next rows will be worked back and forth as follows:

preparation row: knit 18 stitches and turn the work in order to knit on the wrong side of the work.

rg 1 (wrong side): Knit 36 stitches then turn the work.

rg 2 (right side): Knit 36 stitches then turn the work.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 7 cm then join the work in the round and knit 3 rows.

Loosely cast off the stitches. Sew the angora lining at the wrist.

Thumb

Take the 13 stitches put on hold for the thumb and distribute the stitches over 3 needles.

Join in the round and taking the Briggs wool, knit a row by picking up a stitch between the hand and the thumb at the end of the round - 14 stitches.

Knit in stocking stitch for 5 cm from the base of the thumb then decrease for the tip of the thumb as follows:

row 1: *3 meD , 2 Tog * repeat 2 times and finish with: 2 meD , 2 Tog .

row 2: Right side up.

row 3: *2 meD , 2 Tog * repeat 2 times and finish with 1 meD , 2 Tog .

row 4: Right side up.

row 5: *1 meD , 2 Tog * repeat 2 times and finish with 2 Tog .

Pass the thread through the 5 remaining stitches, tighten and tuck the threads.

Flap

With Briggs wool, raise 18 stitches on the back of the hand, picking them up 2 rows above the top of the gusset. (be careful because it will not be on the same side for the right hand and the left hand. Mark yourself in relation to the thumb.)

Following these 18 stitches, cast on another 18 stitches - 36 stitches. Divide these 36 stitches over 3 needles and join in the round. Knit in stocking stitch for 7 cm then begin the decreases for the top of the flap as follows:

row 1: *1 meD , DOG , 12 meD , 2 Tog , 1 meD *, repeat once again - 32 stitches.

row 2: *1 meD , DOG , 10 meD , 2 Tog , 1 meD *, repeat once again - 28 stitches.

row 3: *1 med , DG, 8 med , 2 Tog , 1 med *, repeat once again - 24 stitches.

row 4: *1 med , DOG , 6 med , 2 Tog , 1 med *, repeat once again - 20 stitches.

row 5: *1 meD , DOG , 4 meD , 2 Tog , 1 meD *, repeat once again - 16 stitches.

Knit a right row then place the first 8 stitches on one needle, the next 8 on a second needle then sew using kitchener stitch.
