Realization

Cast on 36 stitches with 3.5 mm double pointed needles and join in the round, taking care not to twist the stitches. Knit 9 rows in garter stitch starting with a purl row.

Continue with the 4 mm needles in broken ribs, repeating rows 1 to 4 5 times (total height of the wrist, approximately 8.5 cm).

Gusset placement row

Knit 18 stitches, place a marker ring, 1 intermediate increase, place a marker ring, finish the row. Knit a row following the broken rib stitch.

Increase rand

Knit in the pattern up to the first marker ring, slip the ring, right intercalary increase, knit up to the 2nd marker, left intercalary increase, slip the marker, finish the row in broken ribs.

Knit 2 rows in the pattern on each side of the reference rings, and in knit stitches for the stitches between the 2 rings (The gusset is therefore entirely knitted in knit stitches).

Repeat these 3 rows until you have 13 stitches between the 2 reference rings, ending with an increase row then 1 row in the pattern. Place the 13 gusset stitches on hold on a piece of yarn.

Continue on the 36 stitches completing a total of 13 broken rib patterns from the beginning of the ribs, ending with row 3.

Knit 5 rows in garter stitch starting with a purl row. Cast off all sts with knit.

Thumb

Distribute the 13 stitches on a set of 3 double pointed needles 4 mm, join in the round. The whole thumb will be knitted in stitches.

Knit up to the junction with the hand, pick up 4 stitches in total on either side of the thumb = 17 stitches.

Next row: Knit 12 stitches, 1 single overlock, knit 1, 2 stitches together = 15 stitches. Continue in knit stitches for 4 rows. Then, knit 5 rows in garter stitch starting with a purl row. Cast off all sts loosely towards the right side.

Knit a second similar mitten.

Well done !
