In 2001, Import Chompas was created with the mission of introducing to the North American market ILLIMANI, a luxury ready-to-wear collection of alpaca and llama wool garments handmade by artisans in Bolivia.
After several years in the fashion industry, they decided it was time to focus on yarn; applying all their experience in knitwear and fine wools to carefully select the world's best natural yarns at unbeatable prices.
Illimani has worked with thousands of artisans in Bolivia and Peru, many of whom have mastered the art of knitting and crochet. Their mission is to provide the materials and inspiration to their customers to help them create their own handmade textiles.
They also work with international aid organizations to support artisans from the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes in marketing their products in North American markets.
