A marriage of love between Alpaca and silk

Amélie is one of the sweetest sons we have come across. Its spinning is the result of the latest technologies: a silk "cage" holds a cloud of baby alpaca. The result is a yarn that has hold (thanks to the silk), an ombré effect (because silk does not take on color in the same way as alpaca) and incomparable softness thanks to the quality of baby alpaca.

Amélie yarn will be perfect for knitting sweaters as well as accessories such as shawls or scarves.

About Illimani Yarn

In 2001, Import Chompas was established with the mission of introducing to the North American market ILLIMANI, a luxury ready-to-wear collection of alpaca and llama wool garments handcrafted by artisans in Bolivia.

After several years in the fashion business, they decided it was time to focus on yarn; applying all their experience on knits and fine wools to carefully select the best natural yarns in the world at unbeatable prices.

Illimani has worked with thousands of artisans in Bolivia and Peru, many of whom have mastered the art of knitting and crochet. Their mission is to provide the materials and inspiration to their customers to help them create their own handcrafted textiles.

They also work with international aid organizations to support artisans in the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes in marketing their products to North American markets.
