Realization

The mitten is started with the wrist band in garter stitch.

Wrist

With 3.5 mm needles, cast on 20 stitches and knit in garter stitch for 18 cm.

Knit a row of buttonholes as follows: 3 stitches, 2 stitches together, 1 yarn over, 4 stitches, 2 stitches together, 1 yarn over, 4 stitches, 2 stitches together, 1 yarn over, 3 stitches.

Knit another 4 rows garter st and cast off loosely. Cross the band over 2 cm and fix it by sewing on the buttons or with safety pins.

Hand

The hand is knitted entirely in circular stockinette except the edges.

With 3.5 mm double pointed needles, pick up 36 stitches along the wrist band. Distribute these stitches on 3 needles and join in the round. Knit 3 rows, then start the thumb gusset as follows:

Cast off the 36 stitches loosely.

Gusset

Take the 13 stitches on hold and place them on 3 double pointed needles.

Join in the round and knit 13 stitches, at the end of the round, pick up 3 stitches in the space between the thumb and the hand.

On the next row, knit to the last 3 stitches then, slip two stitches as if to knit them together, knit the next stitch and cast off the 2 slipped stitches on the knitted stitch - 14 stitches.

Continue all in the right place for 4 additional rows then knit the edge in garter stitch by alternating a row of purl stitches and a row of knit stitches 3 times ending with a row of purl stitches.

Cast off the 14 stitches loosely.

Knit a second similar mitten.

Finishes

Tuck in all the wires. Sew the buttons opposite the buttonholes.
