Realization
With the 3.5 mm circular needles, cast on 90 stitches, place a marker ring and join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Knit 4.5 cm of 1/1 rib. Continuing with the 4.5 mm needles, knit one row, purl, 2 rows then start the increases as follows:
1st increase: * AI, 9 meD * repeat on the whole row.
Knit 3 rows.
2nd increase: *AI, 10 meD* repeat on the whole row.
Knit 3 rows.
3rd increase: * AI, 11 meD * repeat on the whole row.
Continue to knit until piece measures 9.5 cm.
Purl 2 rows then knit 2 rows.
Then start the decreases:
1st decrease: * 10 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the entire row.
Knit 3 rows.
2nd decrease: * 9 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the whole row.
Knit 3 rows.
3rd decrease: * 8 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the entire row.
Knit 3 rows.
4th decrease: * 7 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the whole row.
Knit 3 rows.
5th decrease: * 6 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the whole row.
Knit 3 rows.
6th decrease: * 5 sts, 2 Tog * repeat on the whole row.
Knit 1 row.
Now alternate 1 row of decreases with 1 knit row, decreasing 1 stitch each time (4 sts + 2 tog; 3 sts + 2 tog, etc…).
When you finish with 2 stitches together on the whole row, cut the yarn about ten centimeters from the knitting and pass it through the remaining stitches. Tighten and tuck all the wires. Sew a pompom to the top of the beret.

PS: For a better hold of the beret, I advise you to sew an elastic ribbon after the ribs.
